A Chatelaine - Rings
I do not get much time to sew. Because of that, sometimes I misplace things so that I have to spend time looking for needles and such like instead of sewing.
I very recently went to a craft shop and while waiting to be attended to, saw the large ring in the photograph. and realized that it can fit through my hands. I bought on and use it to make a chatelaine.
Basically what I did was to attach split rings to the large ring and then attached cute little items to each split ring.

An unusual pencil case
A rolled up pencil case
This is a very simple pencil case. I used the headtie from a dress and sewed a large rectangle. Then I folded it and sewed channels to hold the pencils.
I also put in a piece of black and gold lace to ensure that the contents would not fall out.
Then I filled it and rolled it up and tied with a ribbon.
Simple and fantastic

Fabric instead of Paper
A Fabric Envelope
The front of the envelope
The back of the envelope
This was a small quilted project. The mint green anglais fabric is from a dress and the bright plaid is from a lungi made for a young man. I quilted it with a piece of an old blanket in the middle and wavy lines all over. You can see some of the wavy lines on the plaid in the picture above. I didn't have suitable bias binding for this project and I actually used satin ribbon to finish it.
I thought it was a bit floppy but my aunt loved it.

A Baby Blanket
One of my members of staff is having a baby very soon and her birthday was in September.
I wanted to make a few baby things for her so I made a faux chenille blanket in white and blue flannel.
It's the first time that I have tried this and I think that the next time I will sew it a bit closer. But it was really soft and fuzzy and it was only washed once.
I also had a bit of difficulty getting it to lie flat and straight because the border is doubled and frilly.
I told Kezelle that she could use this one as a 'lovey' blanket.
Something soft and warm to hug in the last few months; something with her scent and a connection with her son before he is even born.
I also made two burp cloths. These burp cloths are nice because one side is flannel and the other side is a diaper material. I didn't have time to sew any more and I used all the flannel in the blanket.

Needlebook
A very unusual needlebook
I can remember as a child, my mother had like to look at a television show called 'Little House on the Prairie.'
All the ladies in that show wore hats called 'bonnets' and I thought these hats were so pretty.
So, when I saw Tipnut had a pattern for a vintage needlebook shaped like a bonnet, I just had to make one.
The cap in front opens to white flannel pages to put needles and pins. And the gathers to the back is a little drawstring bag. It can hold thread, thimble and a small scissors.
It's very cute
