A Shawl for my Grandmother

My grandmother Habbiban Baksh-Aziz turned 92 years on Thursday 7th April 2016. I gave her this crochet shawl I made at her birthday function on Sunday 10th April 2016.

I finished it on Sunday morning and was only able to dash off two pictures before I had to go to the function.

I took this photo with it spread on the floor because it is very large.
It was made using shades of cream and brown acrylic wool and a 5.5 crochet hook.

I used the Elise shawl pattern and actually started this more than a year ago. I like this pattern very much because of the flowers formed as the pattern progresses.

Most likely, I shall do another in thread and use it as a hijab

Crochet Baby Blanket

One of my staff members became pregnant last year and is having her baby this month, January. As soon as she told me she was pregnant, I started this octagon crochet baby blanket and since  at the time I wasn't sure if it was a boy or girl, I started a rainbow pattern.

When she discovered that it would be a boy, The royal blue edging was a must.

A close up of the centre.

As it grew bigger, it got ruffly.

I was happy with it.

The new mother, Kezelle, was very pleased with it.

Hexagon Rainbow Baby Blanket

Hexagon Rainbow Baby Blanket in Crochet
I recently got a camera, so this is the first picture that I have taken of something that I had crocheted.

Two young people who I work with are having a baby so I decided to crochet a baby blanket for them. I used a rainbow theme with pastel colours and white in between. This is actually an afghan pattern that I modified to create a baby blanket.

This is a snapshot of the swirl at the centre of the blanket.
